FAQ

Questions, answered.

The short version of how we work with brands and stores. Don’t see yours? Get in touch.

For brands

What do you need from me to start?

Exports of your UNFI or KeHE reports and your accounting records, plus a spec sheet, price list and insurance certificate for each item. Within a week we send you a list of stores to pitch, and once you sign, you add us to your distributor portal so we can submit promos and check chargebacks.

How is your commission calculated?

We charge on net sales to stores we opened or that you hand us, after returns, credits and trade spend, with nothing on free fill or free goods. You get an itemized statement each month, and we bill only after your distributor has paid you.

Will you commit my money to promos or fees?

Never without your written OK. We build a launch budget from your margin and cash, and you approve every free fill, promo and demo before we offer it to a store.

What happens to my accounts if I leave?

Give 30 days’ notice and you can leave any month; we hand back every buyer contact and open conversation. We keep earning for 90 days only on stores we opened, and only if you end the agreement.

Can I keep working with my current broker?

Yes. We don’t ask for exclusivity, and we agree in writing which stores are ours so nobody is paid twice.

Which accounts count as ones you opened?

Any store on the list you approved that hadn’t ordered your items in the past 12 months. Every other store stays yours at 0% unless you hand it to us.

How long until I’m on shelf?

At a co-op or independent, a yes can come within a few weeks if the buyer has room. Stores with set reviews decide on their own calendar, often months out, and we tell you each store’s next window before we pitch.

Who talks to the buyer?

We do the pitching and follow-up: we send each pitch, answer the buyer’s questions, arrange samples and follow up until there’s a clear yes, no or not yet. You can join any buyer conversation, and every reply shows up in your weekly update.

For stores

Who pays Tanda?

The brands we represent pay us a commission on their sales. You never pay us anything, and we don’t offer stores anything in return for carrying an item.

How do I order?

Through your usual UNFI or KeHE rep, using the item number in our pitch. We don’t sell or invoice anything ourselves.

Can I get samples?

Yes. Reply to any pitch and the brand ships samples to you.

What if an item doesn’t sell?

Tell us and we’ll stop sending it. If the brand has a program for slow items, like a credit or markdown support, it’s offered to every store on the same terms.

Will you keep pitching if I say no?

No. One “no” stops pitches for that item unless you ask again, and a “not now” gets one check-in on the date you give us.

What do you see about my store?

Only shipments of our brands’ items to your store, from the brands’ own distributor reports. We never share one store’s numbers with another store or brand.

How often will you email me?

Only when we have an item that fits what you told us, or news about an item you already carry. No newsletters, and you can tell us to stop at any time.
